"I think it was put to me best at the beginning when Ryan said, 'Drop your ego at the door and do what you can do.' For me this means it’s not a competition with anybody else because battling me is enough."

Let me start by saying that most of my adult life I have battled against my weight. I have lost the same 100 lbs several times in many different ways (most of them not very healthy). I watched my 11 year old and 9 year old sons workout for the last two years at North Frisco CrossFit (NFX) with Ryan during the summer in a kids conditioning class to get ready for football (yes this is Texas and we care about football). After watching them workout and seeing the results I thought I would give it a go. How humbling and rewarding it has been over the last 15 weeks.
I began NFX on July 29, 2014 and today is November 13, 2014. I began at 355 lbs at age 45 with surgically reconstructed knees and a shoulder that is less than 100%. To date I have lost 65 lbs and 6 inches off my waist. While a lot of this was done through diet (or let me say by changing my eating habits) enough cannot be said about NFX and the coaching staff. They are encouraging, motivating and respectful coaches who showed me how to scale workouts to my abilities, but still challenge myself. The coaching staff has been incredibly patient with me to make sure that I stay healthy and keep moving and because movement is healthier than the alternative. Overall my body feels better because of what I have done over the last 108 days. This has not been a journey of working out 6 days a week or for 8 hours a day. I have averaged 3 days a week for an hour a day during this time. My life, my family and work have gone on as normal.
I think it was put to me best at the beginning. “Drop your ego at the door and do what you can do”. For me this means it’s not a competition with anybody else because battling me is enough. North Frisco CrossFit will help you get results and reach goals and if I can do it then anybody can.
